- Nebraska game was a big win and everyone involved with Texas football needed some fun after two losses. Spoiled around here and losing stinks, gotta get back to fun and win.

- Not enough credit has gone to Bo Pelini, the Nebraska team, and staff. They have done a great job getting back into the national scene. The game was big  because of them not Texas.

- Taylor Martinez is a great players and our gys did a great job against him.

- Players and coaches got some things fixed over the bye week and worked hard doing it.

- Proud of how the team played, they played hard and with more discipline.

- The kicking game was a huge difference in the game, dominated on defense and in the kicking game.

- Nebraska averaged only 16 yards per kickoff return and Justin Tucker had two touch backs.

- Punt return team did a good job, Curtis Brown had a 24 yard return that led to a field goal, and Aaron Williams had a 17 yard return.

- Punt team was a bright spot averaging 46 yards per punt. There were two punts downed inside the five and Malcolm Williams did a great job with it.

- Justin Tucker kicked rugby punts into the wind, with John Gold kicking with the wind. Tucker's long punts into the wind took away the wind advantage when the Huskers had the wind at their back.

- The field goal team did a great job, with Tucker making two. There was a little trouble with snaps but Cade McCrary did a great job handling them.

- One big special teams blunder, the pooch kick late in the game that was returned for a touchdown. The decision to pooch kick was fine, the execution was bad. It should have been kicked out of bounds. This must be improved.

- The defense had a great day and executed well. Great job against the run game.

- Nebraska was 0-2 in the red zone, had seven three and outs, while the defense only had three missed tackles. A complete reversal from the UCLA game.

- Proud of freshmen Jordan Hicks and Adrian Phillips who played a lot due to injuries.

- Defensive Player of the game: Kheeston Randle. He dominated in the middle. Okafor is coming on and they feel good about the interior of the d-line.

- Hard Hat: Blake Gideon.

- Defensive improvements to be made: Man coverage. They can't leave guys wide open. Also need to improve the pass rush. That was tough Against Nebraska, though, due to having to contain a running quarterback.

- There were three defensive penalties, and two were killers.

- Tough game to throw in due to strong winds.

-Also need to force more turnovers, there were a lot of balls on the ground and only recovered one.

- Offensively this was the best outing for managing the game this season, and there were no turnovers.

- Third down efficiency improved, and the Horns matched Nebraska on explosive plays. No sacks allowed, and only one negative yardage play in the game.

- Liked the four minute offense at the end of the game. They killed the clock and finished the game with a kneel down.

- Cody Johnson and Tre Newton looked good and were powerful. Liked how Cody Johnson ran in the fourth quarter helping control the clock.

- Offensive line played its best game and there was only one penalty from the O-line.

- Offensive Player of the Game: Garrett Gilbert. He displayed leadership, managed the game well, had no turnovers, and rushed for 71 yards.

- Lineman of the Game was Michael Huey, who turned in a good performance. Happy for him after a rough outing against Suh in the Big 12 Championship.

- Things to improve offensively: Red zone offense, had two touchdowns and two field goals. Must throw the ball better, missed opportunities there and Nebraska plays good pass defense. Also need better third down efficiency.

- Injuries: A lot of guys were banged up in the game but there's a good chance everyone could play Saturday.

- As for Iowa State, Head Coach Paul Rhoads is doing a great job.

- The Iowa State offense is similar to Texas, with zone reads, counters, traps, and quarterback draws. The pass offense is similar to Texas in concepts.

- Iowa State defense plays a four man front with a bend but don't break style. They don't blitz a lot.

- They are now at the midpoint of the season, time to start the season over. Many challenges over the second half and have five of the last six games at home.
